The submitted research project, with a subsequent publication, intends to edit and supplement the translation by Eva Schwarcz of her own autobiography, which was originally published in Hebrew, and to embed it in a wider context by means of several accompanying texts by, among others, Prof. Dr. Christian Allesch, Prof. Maria Nicolini, Ari Rath, the project “biografiA. Biographical database and lexicon of Austrian women” (www.biografia.at) and the association Servitengasse 1938 (http://servitengasse1938.at). The aim is to keep a record of the authentic memories exile and to make them as accessible to as wide a public as possible. Eva Schwarcz attended adult education classes at Vienna’s Schubert School on Grüntorgasse. She studied Comparative Literature, gained a BA at the Jerusalem University in Haifa, completing her studies with the thesis “The Doppelgänger in Plato, Molière, Kleist and Thomas Mann”.

Das vorgelegte Rechercheprojekt mit einer später geplanten Buchveröffentlichung sieht vor, die von der Autorin Eva Schwarcz selbst verfasste Übersetzung ihrer auf Hebräisch erschienenen autobiografischen Erinnerungen zu bearbeiten, zu ergänzen und sie durch mehrere begleitende Texte, unter anderem von Prof. Dr. Christian Allesch, Prof. Maria Nicolini, Ari Rath, dem Projekt „biografiA. biografische datenbank und lexikon österreichischer frauen“ (www.biografia.at) und dem Verein „Servitengasse 1938“ (http://servitengasse1938.at) in einen größeren Kontext einzubetten. Ziel ist dabei, die authentischen Erinnerungen einer Exilantin festzuhalten und sie möglichst breit zugänglich zu machen. Eva Schwarcz besuchte die Volksschule in der Wiener Schubertschule in der Grünentorgasse. Sie studierte Vergleichende Literaturwissenschaften, erwarb den Titel B.A. an der Jerusalemer Universität in Haifa und schloss mit der Magisterarbeit „Der Doppelgänger bei Plautus, Moliere, Kleist und Thomas Mann“ ab. Sie kam 1938 mit einem Kindertransport der Jugend-Alija nach Israel, wo sie ein neues Leben fand.
