Theater unter NS-Herrschaft: Begriffe, Praxis, Wechselwirkungen. Internationale Tagung

 

The planned conference will deal with the National Socialist Representative Theater, the Theater of the Cultural Alliance of German Jews and theatrical activities in ghettos and concentration camps. Although contemporary historical and theatric historical works already exist for all three areas, several subject areas have so far scarcely been considered. These include the question of the continuation or assumption of the conservative definition of culture in Austria after the “Anschluss”, evaluation and appraisal of the “Jewish Cultural Alliance Germany, Vienna branch”, Yiddish theater in the ghettos and theatrical activities in concentration and extermination camps. During the conference the gaps in the research will be established. A further focus of the conference is to gain an overview of the individual areas of this topic.

Im Rahmen der geplanten Tagung werden das NS-Repräsentationstheater, das Theater des Kulturbundes deutscher Juden sowie theatrale Aktivitäten in Ghettos und Konzentrations-lagern thematisiert. Obwohl für alle drei Teilbereiche zeit- und theaterhistorische Arbeiten vorliegen, wurden einige Themenbereiche bislang kaum berücksichtigt. Dazu gehören unter anderem die Frage nach Weiterführung bzw. Übernahme eines konservativen Kulturbegriffs in Österreich nach dem „Anschluss“, die Aufarbeitung des „Jüdischen Kulturbundes Deutschland, Zweigstelle Wien“, jiddisches Theater in Ghettos sowie theatrale Aktivitäten in Konzentrations- und Vernichtungslagern. Im Rahmen der Tagung sollen Forschungsdesiderate festgestellt werden, weiters liegt das Hauptaugenmerk der Tagung auf der Zusammenschau der einzelnen Teilbereiche.
