Remembrance project University of Business and Economics

With this remembrance project, the Vienna University of Economics and Business wants to make a permanent symbol of remembrance. The goal is to research the names of those affected and investigate the individual fates for the victims of the Nazi regime insofar as is possible. A memorial will be established and the names on the memorial will remember numerous individual fates of those who were no longer able to study, teach or research at the former High School for International Trade after the “Anschluss” of Austria to the German Reich.

Mit dem Gedenkprojekt will die WU dauerhaft ein Zeichen der Erinnerung setzen. Das Ziel ist es, die Namen der Betroffenen zu recherchieren und darüber hinaus die individuellen Schicksale der Opfer des NS-Regimes soweit es möglich ist zu erforschen. Ein Mahnmal wird errichtet, und die Namen am Mahnmal erinnern an zahlreiche Einzelschicksale, die nach dem „Anschluss“ Österreichs an das Deutsche Reich an der damaligen Hochschule für Welthandel in Wien nicht mehr studieren, lehren oder forschen konnten.
