The Contemporary Historian Oliver Rathkolb shall be presented with a commemorative publication to mark his 60th birthday. Rathkolb has undertaken countless projects dealing with the persecution and disenfranchisement of the Jewish population, slave labour and with indemnification post-1945. These include an early study on the assets of the Jewish customers of the Vienna Postal Savings Bank, an investigation into slave labor at the Herman Göring Works and a study carried out within the scope of the Austrian Historical Commission on "The assets of the Jewish population. Nazi looting and post-1945 restitution". He has regularly immersed himself in the politics of memory and remembrance and in "the negotiation of history", matters he has also addressed from a transnational perspective. In 2013 he edited an anthology on anti-Semitism and the "long shadow" it cast over the University of Vienna.

Zum 60. Geburtstag soll dem österreichische Zeithistoriker Oliver Rathkolb eine Festschrift überreicht werden. In zahlreichen Projekten hat sich Rathkolb mit der Verfolgung und dem Raub an der jüdischen Bevölkerung, der Zwangsarbeit und der Entschädigung nach 1945 beschäftigt, wie etwa eine frühe Studie über die Vermögenswerte jüdischer Kunden im Postsparkassenamt Wien, eine Untersuchung über die Zwangsarbeit bei den Hermann Göring Werken oder eine im Rahmen der Historikerkommission der Republik Österreich erstellte Studie über „Das Vermögen der jüdischen Bevölkerung. NS-Raub und Restitution nach 1945“ belegen. Mit der Erinnerungs- und Gedächtnispolitik und dem „Verhandeln von Geschichte“ hat er sich immer wieder auch aus transnationaler Perspektive beschäftigt. Zum Antisemitismus an der Universität Wien und dessen „langen Schatten“ hat er 2013 einen Sammelband herausgegeben.
