Description
Self help was founded 65 years ago in New York in order to provide assistance to refugees from Nazi Germany. The present task of Self Help is to attend to the needs of the survivors in and around New York (home help, home visits, social programs, assistance in filling out forms…). Last year Self Help assisted around 160 “former Austrians” in these matters, around 4,700 hours of social work.

Self Help wurde vor 65 Jahren in New York gegründet, um eine Hilfestellung an Flüchtlinge aus NS-Deutschland zu geben. Die heutige Aufgabe von Self Help ist es, sich in allen Belangen um die Survivors im Großraum New York zu kümmern (Heimhilfe, Soziale Programme, Hausbesuche, Hilfestellung beim Ausfüllen von Fragebögen...). Im letzten Jahr betreute Self Help ungefähr 160 bedürftige 'Alt-ÖsterreicherInne' in all diesen Angelegenheiten, das bedeutet ungefähr 4.700 Stunden von SozialarbeiterInnen.
