This book is the result of a project at a Viennese school. Students at the BG 19, Gymnasiumgasse, led by a dedicated teacher, began to investigate the history of their school and the fate of its former students between 1938 and 1945. In 1998 a memorial plaque was unveiled within the scope of the project. The collection interview material and life stories was then edited for the book “Stories of Exile. Jewish Students of a Viennese High School 1938 and their Fates”. Turia and Kant Publishers now requested a contribution towards the printing costs.

Dieses Buch ist das Ergebnis eines Projektes an einer Wiener Schule. SchülerInnen des BG 19, Gymnasiumgasse, begannen unter der Leitung eines engagierten Lehrers, die Geschichte ihrer Schule und das Schicksal ihrer ehemaligen MitschülerInnen in der Zeit von 1938 bis 1945 zu erforschen. Im Rahmen des Projektes wurde 1998 eine Gedenktafel enthüllt. Die Sammlung an Interviewmaterial und Lebensläufen wurde in weiterer Folge in dem Buch 'Vertreibungsschicksale. Jüdische Schüler eines Wiener Gymnasiums 1938 und ihre Lebenswege' aufgearbeitet, für das der Verlag Turia&Kant um einen Druckkostenzuschuss angesucht hat.
