The story of the Rosenthal family at the same time tells the story of both the social and economic history of the Jewish community in Hohenems and the story of the inhabitants of the Heimann-Rosenthal villa, home to the Jewish museum. Particular focus is placed on the last inhabitant of the villa, Klara Heimann-Rosenthal and the story of her deportation. Two volumes of material were produced in parallel to the exhibition. The first volume was brought out for the opening of the exhibition. The second volume was published at the end of the exhibition in supplementation of volume one and as documentation of the project as a whole.

Anhand der Geschichte der Familie Rosenthal lässt sich sowohl die Sozial- und Wirtschaftsgeschichte der jüdischen Gemeinde in Hohenems, als auch Bewohnergeschichte der Villa Heimann-Rosenthal, dem Sitz des Jüdischen Museums, erzählen. Besonderes Augenmerk gilt dabei der letzten Bewohnerin der Villa, Klara Heimann-Rosenthal und deren Deportationsschicksal. Parallel zu der Ausstellung entstanden zwei Materialienbände. Der erste Band erschien zur Ausstellungseröffnung. Der zum Ausstellungsende erscheinende zweite Band soll den ersten ergänzen und das Gesamtprojekt dokumentieren.
