Frank (Misa) Grundwald was born in September 1932 in Czechoslovakia. Four months later, Adolf Hitler came to power in Germany. “Misa’s Fugue” tells the true story of the journey of a young boy from Prague to Terezín, Auschwitz, Mauthausen and Melk to Gunskirchen. He became one of the countless victims of the Nazi reign of terror. The documentary on the life of Frank Grundwald was produced by a group of young painters, sculptors, musicians and filmmakers from the “Fleetwood Area High School” in Indianapolis, USA. With the help of other students, they succeeded in producing a film that shows how creativity remains alive, even in the darkest, most destructive moments of history. Frank Grundwald tells his story himself, which was recorded in a number of interviews.

Frank (Misa) Grundwald wurde im September 1932 in der Tschechoslowakei geboren. Vier Monate später kam in Deutschland Adolf Hitler an die Macht. „Misa’s Fugue“ erzählt die wahre Geschichte von der Reise eines Jungen aus Prag nach Theresienstadt, Auschwitz, Mauthausen, Melk bis Gunskirchen. Er wurde eines der unzähligen Opfer der Gewaltherrschaft der Nationalsozialisten. Das Leben von Frank Grunwald wurde in einem Dokumentarfilm von jugendlichen MalerInnen, BildhauerInnen, MusikerInnen und FilmemacherInnen aus der „Fleetwood Area High School“ in Indianapolis, USA erstellt. Gemeinsam mit Studierenden entstand ein Filmdokument, das zeigt, wie inmitten der zerstörerischen Momente der Geschichte der Menschheit trotzdem Kreativität lebendig bleibt. Frank Grundwald erzählt seine Geschichte selbst, die in vielen Interviews aufgezeigt wurde.
