Der Nationalsozialismus im Mikrokosmos Wieden

 

The project in question pursues two principal aims. The project organizers intend to consolidate and enhance the knowledge of the Nazi era in the Viennese District of Wieden and initiate a district-wide educational project on the history of Wieden. Research shall focus on the history of the Nazi persecutees in this district, in particular the Jewish population, in terms of society, politics, religion and historical events. In doing so, the historical background shall be given due attention. Research shall also be undertaken into the Nazi milieu in the 4th District. Who were the local Nazis? Who profited from the practices of looting after the “Anschluss”, for example? By establishing links between relevant people, interactions and places in the above context, the project organizers intend to create a historical network for Wieden that shall then serve as a starting point for broad-scale educational work. An exhibition project in the district will communicate and convey the outcomes of the research. Identification with the local area is of special relevance as it also offers a segment of the public that seemingly had nothing to do with the Nazi past the opportunity to engage and be involved in history.

Das vorliegende Projekt verfolgt primär zwei Anliegen. Es will den wissenschaftlichen Kenntnisstand über die nationalsozialistische Ära im Bezirk Wien-Wieden zusammenfassen und vertiefen und ein bezirksweites Vermittlungsprojekt zur Geschichte der Wieden initiieren. Erforscht werden soll die Geschichte der Verfolgten des NS-Regimes dieses Bezirks, insbesondere der jüdischen Bevölkerung nach sozialen, politischen, religiösen und ereignisgeschichtlichen Gesichtspunkten. Dabei soll auch die Vorgeschichte gebührend Berücksichtigung finden. Erforscht werden soll das nationalsozialistische Milieu im vierten Bezirk. Wer waren die ortansässigen Nationalsozialistinnen und Nationalsozialisten? Wer profitierte etwa auch von der Beraubungspraxis nach dem Anschluss? Indem im obigen Kontext relevante Personen, Interaktionen und Orte miteinander in Beziehung gesetzt werden, soll ein historisches Netz über die Wieden gespannt werden, das wiederum den Ausgangspunkt für eine breit angelegte Vermittlungsarbeit bildet. Ein Ausstellungsprojekt im Bezirk wird die Ergebnisse der Forschung kommunizieren und vermitteln. Die lokale Identifikation ist von besonderer Relevanz weil sie auch jenem Publikum, das scheinbar nichts mit der NS-Geschichte zu tun hatte, eine Möglichkeit zur Beschäftigung mit und Anteilnahme an der Geschichte bietet.
