Seminar in Israel für österreichische LehrerInnen an der International School for Holocaust Studies in Yad Vashem und auch am Center for Humanistic Education an der Gedenkstätte Lohamei Hagetaot (bei Akko)

 

The project comprises a 14-day seminar in Israel, which is being held in summer 2016 and includes two days of preparation in Salzburg in March 2016 and a two-day follow-up in Salzburg in October 2016. Twenty-three history and political education teachers from all municipal provinces shall participate in the seminar, accompanied by two people from erinnern.at. The subjects of the seminar are Jewish life in Vienna before the Holocaust, the mass murder of Jews by the Nazi German Reich and its allies, life after the Holocaust with the reestablishment of the Jewish communities, the question of the punishment of the perpetrators by the criminal justice system and, not least, Israel and the history of the Holocaust. Furthermore, it will be discussed how and with what materials the Holocaust can be taught. In addition, the seminar participants should be able to reflect on their personal approaches and experiences.

Das Projekt besteht aus einem 14–tägigen Seminar in Israel, das während des Sommers 2016 stattfindet und welches zwei Tage Vorbereitung in Salzburg im März 2016 und zwei Tage Nachbereitung in Salzburg im Oktober 2016 beinhaltet. Dabei werden 23 Lehrpersonen aus allen Bundesländern beteiligt sein, welche die Fächer Geschichte und politische Bildung für SchülerInnen unterrichten sowie zwei Begleitpersonen von Erinnern.at. Themen des Seminars sind das jüdisches Leben in Europa vor dem Holocaust, der Massenmord an den Juden begangen durch das nationalsozialistische Deutsche Reich und seine Verbündeten, das Leben nach dem Holocaust mit dem Wiederaufbau von jüdischen Gemeinden, die Fragen der Verfolgung der Täter durch die Justiz und nicht zuletzt Israel und die Geschichte des Holocaust. Des Weiteren soll der Frage nachgegangen werden, wie und mit welchen Materialien über den Holocaust unterrichtet werden kann. Zudem soll eine Reflexion der persönlichen Zugänge und Erfahrungen der SeminarteilnehmerInnen erfolgen.
