The Erich Fried Days are taking place in the context of the Erich Fried Prize 2016 at the Vienna House of Literature. At the same time celebrations will be held to mark the 95th birthday of the eponymous Erich Fried and the birthday of Ilse Aichinger (Member of the executive committee since 1997). The international events with a focus on cultural science shall deal with the current Jewish-European discourse in Central Europe. Subjects of discussion will be the lines of questioning and writing programs of Jewish authors and intellectuals from the younger generations, remembrance in a global age, and representation of Jewishness and Judaism in today’s cultural, political, religious, museum, educational and life-worldly context.

Die Fried Tage finden im Kontext der Verleihung des Erich Fried Preises 2016 im Literaturhaus Wien statt. Zugleich wird der 95. Geburtstag des Namensgebers Erich Fried und von Ilse Aichinger (Präsidiumsmitglied seit 1997) gefeiert. Die internationalen, kulturwissenschaftlich orientierten Veranstaltungen beschäftigen sich mit aktuellen jüdisch-europäischen Diskursen in Mitteleuropa. Es sollen Fragestellungen und Schreibprogramme jüdischer AutorInnen und Intellektueller der jüngeren Generation diskutiert werden, es geht um Erinnerung im globalen Zeitalter, um Repräsentationen des Jüdischen im heutigen kulturellen, politischen, religiösen, musealen, didaktischen und lebensweltlichen Kontext.
