Creation of a permanent memorial for the Jewish students excluded from the school in 1938

Errichtung einer permanenten Gedenkform für die im Schuljahr 1938 von der Schule ausgeschlossenen jüdischen SchülerInnen

 

Students began researching the names and dates in the school archive as part of an elective history course in 2014. The idea came up to create a permanent memorial. In the school’s main entrance a glass front will be printed with the names of the Jewish students expelled from the school in 1938. These events will be remembered during a commemoration ceremony held at the school on 28 April 2016 in the presence of surviving eyewitnesses and the former Federal Chancellor Dr. Franz Vranitzky. The memorial will be opened during this ceremony.

Die Recherche der Namen und Daten aus dem Schularchiv wurde in einem Wahlkurs Geschichte 2014 von den SchülerInnen begonnen. Es entstand die Idee, eine permanente Gedenkform zu errichten. Im Haupteingangsbereich der Schule wird eine Glasfront mit den Namen, Daten und Schicksalen der 1938 von der Schule ausgeschlossenen jüdischen SchülerInnen bedruckt. Im Rahmen einer festlichen Gedenkveranstaltung am 28.04.2016 an unserer Schule wird unter Beisein von ZeitzeugInnen und des ehemaligen Bundeskanzlers Dr. Franz Vranitzky dieser Ereignisse gedacht. In diesem Zusammenhang wird auch diese Gedenkstätte eröffnet.
