Description
In order to commemorate the victims of National Socialism in the town of Baden, on the initiative and behalf of the Municipality of Baden and civil society a central memorial in the form of a permanent art project will be erected in a public space. With the support of the Office of the Lower Austrian Provincial Government, Department of Art and Culture, in early 2015 an artistic competition was held for invited candidates in order to obtain proposals for an artistic realization of the project. In the scope of this competition a jury of experts selected the best proposal. Following a revision phase last year the project “Counterpoles” will be realized by autumn 2016.

Um den Opfern des Nationalsozialismus der Stadt Baden zu gedenken, soll auf Initiative und im Auftrag der Stadtgemeinde Baden und der Zivilgesellschaft ein zentrales Mahnmal in Form eines dauerhaften Kunstprojektes im öffentlichen Raum errichtet werden. Mit Unterstützung des Amts der NÖ Landesregierung, Abteilung Kunst und Kultur (KÖR) fand im Frühjahr 2015 ein geladener künstlerischer Wettbewerb zur Erlangung von Entwürfen für eine künstlerische Ausgestaltung des Projekts statt. In dessen Rahmen wählte eine Jury aus ExpertInnen den besten Entwurf aus. Nach einer Überarbeitungsphase des letzten Jahres soll das Projekt „Counterpoles/Widerstäbe“ bis zum Herbst 2016 umgesetzt werden.
