The book contains the writings of the anti-Fascist Oswalda Tonka, which were found by her daughter Gitta Tonka after her death, and edited for publication. Oswalda “Ossy” Sokopp was born into a Viennese working-class family in 1923. She grew up in Buchengasse in the 10th District of Vienna, and from her early childhood her life was shaped by the exploitation and impoverishment of the proletariat. Her entire extended family took a stand against this blatant injustice in the class struggle. Oswalda Tonka committed the story of this struggle to paper in the form of a family history spanning three generations.

Das Buch besteht aus Aufzeichnungen der Antifaschistischin Oswalda Tonka, welche von ihrer Tochter Gitta Tonka nach deren Tod gefunden und für die Publikation redigiert wurden. Oswalda „Ossy“ Sokopp wurde 1923 in einer Wiener Arbeiterfamilie geboren. Aufgewachsen in der Buchengasse 100 im 10. Wiener Gemeindebezirk, wurde sie von frühester Kindheit an von Ausbeutung und Elend des Proletariats begleitet. Ihre ganze Verwandtschaft bezog Stellung gegen diese schreiende Ungerechtigkeit im Klassenkampf. Oswalda Tonka hat die Geschichte dieses Kampfes als Familiengeschichte dreier Generationen aufgeschrieben.
