The town of Ried intends to create a place of education and remembrance for the victims of National Socialism and Fascism in the District of Ried. This will be established as a branch of the museum “Innviertel Ethnographic Museum” in the building at Roßmarkt no. 29. According to the concept the external area shall contain black, backlit boards from which the names of the victims have been carved. The entrance shall be a white cube. The meaning of room itself can only be grasped within the context of the process of remembrance – it is therefore suggested that the room be painted completely white. White walls on which the names of the victims will be added in spot coloring. The reverse side of the new wall will remain bare for school work and for exhibitions. Columns will be put up at a distance of approx. 1.5 meters, on which the biographies of the victims will be illuminated. The resulting niche will contain all the information on Nazism in the District of Ried and the time prior thereto and thereafter. A column containing a touchscreen on which information can be called up will also be installed in this area. In addition a desk with a PC and internet connection will be set up for research purposes. Cube seats, black on one side, white on the other, are proposed for school classes, printed with terms on the subject that they can assemble.

Die Stadt Ried beabsichtigt einen Lern- und Gedenkort für die Opfer von Nationalsozialismus und Faschismus im Bezirk Ried zu errichten. Dieser soll als Außenstelle des Museums „Innviertler Volkskundehaus“ im Haus Roßmarkt Nr. 29 entstehen. Das Konzept sieht im Außenbereich hinterleuchtete Schwarzblechtafeln vor, aus denen die Namen der Opfer herausgeschnitten sind. Der Eingang wird als weißer Kubus gestaltet. Der Raum selbst soll sich über das Gedenken erschließen – es wird daher eine Gestaltung weiß in weiß vorgeschlagen. Weiße Wände, auf denen die Namen der Opfer in Spotlackierungen angebracht werden. Die neue Wand bleibt an der Rückseite frei für Schülerarbeiten und Ausstellungen. In einem Abstand von etwa eineinhalb Metern werden Stelen aufgestellt, auf denen die Biographien der Opfer thematisiert werden. In der neu entstehenden Raumnische sollen alle Informationen zum Nationalsozialismus und der Zeit davor und danach im Bezirk Ried angebracht werden. In diesem Bereich wird eine Stele mit Touchscreen montiert, auf dem Informationen abgerufen werden können. Des Weiteren ist ein Arbeitstisch mit PC und Internetzugang für Recherchearbeiten vorgesehen. Für Schulklassen werden Sitzwürfel vorgeschlagen, die auf einer Seite schwarz, auf den anderen Seiten weiß sind – mit aufgedruckten Begriffen zum Thema, die man zusammensetzen kann.
