Workshops – Ich habe Angst, Auschwitz könnte nur schlafen. Roma: verachtet, verleumdet, verfolgt, vernichtet

 

This project will hold eleven events for school groups from the Austrian 8th grade upward – five workshops in 2017 and five workshops in 2018 and a closing event in spring 2018. The program involves becoming acquainted with Roma culture and remembering the great Roma artist and Auschwitz survivor Ceija Stojka. There will be 17 events for 15 school classes from the 8th grade held at Amerling House. The workshop program is as follows: following an introductory short film, the host Magdalena Vit and Christa Stippinger will provide a brief introduction to the history, persecution and present situation of the Roma. To close there will be a reading from Ceija Stojka’s life story: about her experiences as a traveling child and her survival in the concentration camps Auschwitz, Ravensbrück and Bergen-Belsen. A discussion will also take place when the children will have the opportunity to ask Ceija Stojka’s family questions.

Dieses Projekt veranstaltet elf Veranstaltungen für Schulklassen ab der achten Schulstufe, fünf Workshops 2017 und fünf Workshops 2018 und eine Abschlussveranstaltung im Frühjahr 2018. Das Programm beinhaltet sowohl das Kennenlernen der Romakultur, als auch die Erinnerung an die große Romakünstlerin und Auschwitz Überlebende Ceija Stojka. Es wird 17 Veranstaltungstermine für 15 Schulklassen ab der achten Schulstufe im Amerlinghaus geben. Das Workshopprogramm sieht folgendermaßen aus: Nach einem einleitenden Kurzfilm erfolgt eine Kurzeinführung in die Geschichte, Verfolgungsgeschichte und Gegenwart der Roma durch die Moderatorin Mag. Magdalena Vit und Frau Christa Stippinger. Abschließend gibt es eine Lesung aus der Lebensgeschichte Ceija Stojkas: vom Leben der fahrenden Roma, das sie als Kind noch kennenlernte und von ihrem Überleben in den Konzentrationslagern Auschwitz, Ravensbrück und Bergen-Belsen. Zudem findet eine Diskussion statt, bei der die SchülerInnen die Gelegenheit haben, Fragen an Ceija Stojkas Familie zu stellen.
