The aim of the association “Stones of Remembrance” is to remind people of Jewish culture and Jewish life prior to 1938 and, using specific examples, to commemorate the many people who were deported and murdered from here. The association has chosen to do this in the form of brass plaques placed at the historical locations or set into the sidewalk in front of the buildings in which they once lived. In 2017, stones of remembrance will be laid at 40 locations in seven districts of Vienna with eight opening ceremonies. A brochure will be produced for the 2nd and 9th Districts and supplementary folders will be produced for the other districts.

Der Verein Steine der Erinnerung hat es sich zum Ziel gesetzt, an die jüdische Kultur und das jüdische Leben vor 1938 zu erinnern und beispielhaft der vielen Menschen zu gedenken, die von hier deportiert und ermordet worden sind. Die Form, die der Verein für dieses Gedenken gewählt hat, sind Messingplatten, die an den geschichtlichen Orten oder vor die ehemaligen Wohnhäuser der Menschen ins Pflaster gesetzt werden. Für das Jahr 2017 ist das Verlegen von Steinen der Erinnerung an 40 Orten in sieben Wiener Bezirken mit insgesamt acht Eröffnungsfeiern geplant. Es wird jeweils eine Broschüre für den zweiten und neunten Wiener Gemeidebezirk erstellt, sowie Begleitfolder für alle anderen Bezirke.
