The project “Object inventory by subject of the Jewish Community Graz and Jewish Southeast Austria”, planned as an archival-documentary preliminary study, is part of the research planned by the Graz Center for Jewish Studies on the subject of “Jewish Southeast Austria”. Its main intention is to take an inventory of the available sources. The project has been split into four regional project areas (Austria, Europe, USA and Israel). The archive research is planned so that research field trips can be made to the project regions, each with a duration of several weeks. In addition to the research in the archives, literary research will be carried out and egodocuments and oral history interviews of Holocaust survivors who had returned – predominantly from exile and from the concentration and extermination camps in Southeast Austria. The aim of the project is to collate the results in an object inventory by subject of the Jewish Community Graz and Jewish Southeast Austria.

Das als archivarisch-dokumentarische Vorstudie geplante Projekt „Sachthematisches Inventar zur Israelitischen Kultusgemeinde Graz beziehungsweise zum jüdischen Südostösterreich nach 1945“ ist Teil eines vom Grazer Centrum für Jüdische Studien konzipierten Forschungsvorhabens zum Thema „Jüdisches Südostösterreich“ und stellt sich in erster Linie in den Dienst einer quellenmäßigen Bestandsaufnahme. Das Projekt wurde in vier regional gegliederte Projektbereiche (Österreich, Europa, USA, Israel) aufgeteilt. Die Archivrecherchen sind so geplant, dass jeweils mehrwöchige Recherchereisen in den einzelnen Projektregionen durchgeführt werden. Ergänzend zu den Recherchearbeiten in den Archiven werden Literaturrecherchen und die Sammlung insbesondere von Ego-Dokumenten und Oral-History-Interviews von – vor allem aus der Migration und aus den KZ- und Vernichtungslagern in den Raum Südostösterreich – zurückgekehrte Überlebende der Shoah durchgeführt. Ziel des Projektes ist es, die Ergebnisse in einem sachthematischen Inventar zur Israelitischen Kultusgemeinde Graz beziehungsweise zum jüdischen Südostösterreich zusammenzustellen.
