Bildungs- und Vermittlungsprogramm zur Ausstellung „Bertl & Adele. Zwei Grazer Kinder im Holocaust“

 

The exhibition “Bertl & Adele. Two children from Graz in the Holocaust” has been on display at the Universal Museum Joanneum/Museum for History since January 2018. The exhibition was originally conceived by the House of Names Holocaust and Tolerance Center Austria for the synagogue in Graz and was briefly on display there too. Subsequently the space in the Museum of History in Sackstraße in Graz was adapted, the exhibition was updated to fit the space and expanded to include original artifacts belonging to the Kurzweil family and opened in January 2018. The exhibition will initially be on display for a period of 3 years, i.e. until the end of 2020 and constitutes the first long term content provided by the Joanneum on the topic of Nazism and the Holocaust. The exhibition will be accompanied by a comprehensive supporting program (lectures, book presentations, symposiums, excursions) and an educational program developed with teachers in keeping with the curriculum for history and political education, with a focus on 13 to 18 year olds.

Das Universalmuseum Joanneum/Museum für Geschichte zeigt seit Januar 2018 die Ausstellung „Bertl & Adele. Zwei Grazer Kinder im Holocaust“. Die Ausstellung wurde ursprünglich vom Haus der Namen Holocaust- und Toleranzzentrum Österreich (HTZ) für die Grazer Synagoge konzipiert und dort auch kurzzeitig präsentiert. Anschließend wurden Räumlichkeiten im Museum der Geschichte in der Grazer Sackstraße adaptiert, die Ausstellung wurde nach Maßgabe des Raumes umgestaltet, um originale Objekte der Familie Kurzweil erweitert, und im Januar 2018 eröffnet. Die Präsentation der Ausstellung ist vorerst für drei Jahre, also bis Ende 2020 vereinbart und stellt das erste längerfristige Angebot des Joanneums zum Thema Nationalsozialismus und Holocaust dar. Begleitet wird die Ausstellung von einem umfangreichen Begleitprogramm (Vorträge, Buchpräsentationen, Symposien, Exkursionen) sowie einem Vermittlungsangebot, das sich, in enger Abstimmung mit den LehrerInnen sowie dem neuen Lehrplan für Geschichte und politische Bildung, schwerpunktmäßig an 13 bis 18-jährige SchülerInnen richtet.
