Lost and Found. Zur Wiederentdeckung verfemter und vergessener KomponistInnen

 

The exil.arte center of the University for Music and the Performing Arts has already organized several events for the year 2018. The series of moderated concerts at the ORF’s Radio Café will be resumed as an interesting platform for young musicians. The concerts are streamed live and can therefore be listened to from around the world. They are also an important intersection between the exil.arte center and the medium of radio, through which it is possible to draw attention to the music of ostracized and forgotten composers and to interview eyewitnesses and their children or grandchildren. In addition to the concerts the existing exhibition “When I compose I’m transported back to Vienna” will incorporate new archive material, be expanded and set fresh emphases. It focuses on the varied fates suffered by the banished composers. The exhibition is also closely connected to the concerts planned by the exil.arte center. In 2018 exil.arte will continue to bring out its series published by Böhlau.

Das exil.arte Zentrum der mdw hat bereits einige Aktivitäten für das Jahr 2018 zusammengetragen. Die Reihe der moderierten Konzerte im Radio Cafe des ORF soll fortgesetzt werden, da sie einerseits für die jungen MusikerInnen eine interessante Plattform bilden – sie werden live gestreamt und sind daher von überall auf der ganzen Welt abrufbar. Andererseits ist es eine wichtige Schnittstelle zwischen unserem exil.arte Zentrum und dem Medium Radio, um verfemte und vergessene KomponistInnen vorzustellen und ZeitzeugInnen sowie Söhne/Töchter oder EnkelInnen zu interviewen. Neben den Konzertaktivitäten soll die bereits vorhandene Ausstellung „Wenn ich komponiere, bin ich wieder in Wien“, mit neuen Materialien, die vom Archiv übernommen wurden, erweitert und neue Akzente gesetzt werden. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf den unterschiedlichen Schicksalen, welche die vertriebenen KomponistInnen erleiden mussten. Auch diese Ausstellung steht im direkten Zusammenhang mit den geplanten Konzerten des exil.arte Zentrums. 2018 wird die Publikationsreihe von exil.arte beim Verlag Böhlau fortgesetzt.
