Christian Angerer from the Mauthausen Memorial produced the first draft of a workbook, which has been continually adapted over the course of many years by Elena Strubakis and Franz Richard Reiter. The book is a handout to teachers and young people, to prepare them for their visits to Mauthausen and for follow-up work afterwards. Passages from Iakovos Kambanellis’s book, “Freedom Arrived in May” form the core of the workbook. The “Mauthausen Cantata” is also a central theme. The passages have been elaborated with comments, suggestions, questions and further literature. Kambanelli’s book, “Freedom Arrived in May”, and the accompanying CD will already have sold out by the time the workbook comes out. However, in order for the workbook to be fully effective the book must be available. They have been working on the workbook for years. Therefore funding is requested from the National Fund so that the documentation is available in full for students and teachers when the workbook is published.

Christian Angerer von der Gedenkstätte Mauthausen hat die erste Fassung eines Arbeitsbuches erstellt, die von Elena Strubakis und Franz Richard Reiter über mehrere Jahre hindurch überarbeitet wurde. Es handelt sich bei um eine Handreichung an Jugendliche und PädagogInnen zur Vor- und Nachbereitung einer Exkursion in die Gedenkstätte Mauthausen. Das Zentrum des Arbeitsbuches sind Passagen aus dem Buch Iakovos Kambanellis „Die Freihheit kam im Mai“ ebenso zentral ist die „Mauthausen Cantata“. Den Textstellen wurden Kommentare, Anregungen, Fragen und weiterführende Unterlagen beigefügt. Kambanellis Buch „Die Freihheit kam im Mai“ und die dazugehörige CD werden, bis der Behelf erscheint, bereits vergriffen sein. Das Buch muss aber, damit der Behelf seine völlige Wirksamkeit entfalten kann, verfügbar sein. Es wurde jahrelang an dem Behelf gearbeitet. Es wird daher eine Förderung durch den Nationalfonds erbeten, damit die Unterlagen bei Erscheinen des Arbeitsbuches vollständig für Schülerinnen und Schüler, Lehrerinnen und Lehrer zur Verfügung steht.
