At its annual conference in 2020, the Austrian Society for Exile Research (öge) will deal in detail with the history and present of state-organised reception and forced accommodation of refugees. The focus will be on a comparative perspective, synchronous and diachronic. The aim of the conference is, in awareness of the respective (contemporary) historical contexts, on the one hand to make visible parallels and differences in the practices and forms of internment in the past and present in different countries; on the other hand, the relations and contexts of action that form the camp as a transitory space will be addressed. The target groups are academics from various fields interested in historical and current aspects of the topic of internment camps as well as actors who deal with the issues of the topic from other perspectives (teachers, students, NGOs, artists and cultural workers, journalists, etc.).

Die Österreichische Gesellschaft für Exilforschung (öge) wird sich in ihrer Jahrestagung 2020 eingehend mit der Geschichte und Gegenwart von staatlich organisierter Aufnahme und erzwungener Unterbringung von Geflüchteten befassen. Im Fokus steht die vergleichende Perspektive, synchron und diachron. Ziel der Tagung ist es, im Bewusstsein der jeweiligen (zeit)historischen Kontexte einerseits Parallelen und Unterschiede in den Praktiken und Formen der Internierung in Vergangenheit und Gegenwart in verschiedenen Ländern sichtbar zu machen; andererseits sollen die Beziehungs- und Handlungszusammenhänge, die das Lager als transitorischen Raum formen, thematisiert werden.Zielgruppen sind WissenschaftlerInnen aus unterschiedlichen, an historischen und aktuellen Aspekten des Themas Internierungslager interessierte Personen sowie AkteurInnen, die sich aus anderen Perspektiven mit den Fragestellungen der Thematik auseinandersetzen (LehrerInnen, Studierende, NGOs, Kunst- und Kulturschaffende, JournalistInnen etc.).
