Description
Since July 2006, the Centropa Association, under the direction of Ms Tanja Eckstein, has been organising a monthly meeting for Holocaust survivors – “Café Centropa”. Centropa’s Jewish Seniors’ Club has become indispensable and is by far the most visited project among Vienna's Jewish Holocaust survivors. There are regular telephone calls as well as personal visits and individual meetings. Especially in times of rising antisemitism, it is very important to have a safe place. As a result, the meetings are very important in the lives of the surviving senior citizens. They are held both at the kosher restaurant “Alef” and in the community centre of the Jewish Community Vienna, as well as in summer in guest gardens and restaurants that meet the needs of older people.

Seit Juli 2006 veranstaltet der Verein Centropa unter der Leitung von Frau Tanja Eckstein einmal im Monat ein Treffen für Holocaust-Überlebende – das "Café Centropa". Centropas jüdischer Senior:innenclub ist nicht mehr wegzudenken und mit Abstand das meist besuchte Projekt unter Wiens jüdischen Holocaust-Überlebenden. Es finden regelmäßige Telefonate als auch persönliche Besuche und einzelne Treffen statt. Gerade in der Zeit des steigenden Antisemitismus ist es sehr wichtig, einen sicheren Ort zu haben. Dadurch haben die Treffen einen sehr hohen Stellenwert im Leben der überlebenden Senior:innen. Durchgeführt werden sie sowohl im koscheren Restaurant "Alef" als auch im Gemeindezentrum der IKG Wien sowie im Sommer in Gastgärten und Lokalen, die den Bedürfnissen der älteren Menschen entsprechen.
