Description
Memory Map Portugal – One Life per Page is based on documents from police and refugee organisations from the 1940s found in Porto, Portugal, documenting the journey of hundreds of Austrian and other European refugees who fled Nazi-occupied Europe and reached Portugal in the hope of leaving the shores of Europe for safety and freedom. Memory Map Portugal will trace these journeys and create a new, comprehensive database of all those whose documents can be found in Portugal. The research findings will feed into an exhibition at the Port of Lisbon and the Port of Porto with interactive displays and form the basis of a major educational travelling exhibition and virtual museum for the future.

Memory Map Portugal - One Life per Page basiert auf Dokumenten von Polizei und Flüchtlingsorganisationen aus den 1940er-Jahren, die in Porto, Portugal gefunden wurden und die Reise hunderter österreichischer und anderer europäischer Flüchtlinge dokumentieren, die aus dem von den Nazis besetzten Europa geflohen waren und Portugal erreichten, in der Hoffnung, die Küsten Europas in Richtung Sicherheit und Freiheit zu verlassen. Memory Map Portugal wird diese Reisen nachzeichnen und eine neue, umfassende Datenbank erstellen, die all jene erfasst, deren Dokumente in Portugal zu finden sind. Die Forschungsergebnisse werden in eine Ausstellung im Hafen von Lissabon und im Hafen von Porto mit interaktiven Displays einfließen und die Grundlage für eine große pädagogische Wanderausstellung und ein virtuelles Museum für die Zukunft bilden.
