Description
Once a year, the Jewish Community Vienna invites internationally renowned cantors to join the head cantor of the Jewish Community, Shmuel Barzilai, to introduce the Viennese public (both Jewish and non-Jewish) to the art of chasanut (cantorial singing) in the traditional Vienna City Temple. The annual cantorial memorial concert is one of the highlights of the Jewish Community's commemoration programme. This year, the cantor's concert will take place on 26 November 2024 in the Vienna City Temple of the Jewish Community of Vienna in front of an audience of around 400 people. The renowned young senior cantor Yaakov Lemmer from the Lincoln Squeer Synagogue in New York will perform at the memorial concert together with senior cantor Schmuel Barzilai.

Die IKG Wien lädt einmal im Jahr international bekannte Kantoren ein, um gemeinsam mit dem Oberkantor der IKG, Shmuel Barzilai, im traditionsreichen Wiener Stadttempel dem Wiener Publikum (sowohl dem jüdischen als auch dem nicht jüdischen Publikum) die Kunst der Chasanut (kantoraler Gesang) näherzubringen. Das alljährliche Kantorengedenkkonzert ist eines der Höhepunkte der Israelitischen Kultusgemeinde im Rahmen des Gedenkens. In diesem Jahr findet das Kantorenkonzert am 26.11.2024 im Wiener Stadttempel der Israelitischen Kultusgemeinde Wien vor rund 400 Zuschauer:innen statt. Der renommierte junge Oberkantor Yaakov Lemmer von der Lincoln Squeer Synagoge in New York. Gemeinsam mit Oberkantor Schmuel Barzilai wird er das Gedenkkonzert gestalten.
