Description
The Shoah study trip to Poland organised by the Austrian Service Abroad association takes place annually and is a core project in the preparation of the association's memorial service candidates. The 2024 study trip will be organised in cooperation with B'nai B'rith, Bnei Akiva Germany and the Auschwitz Jewish Center Foundation and will take place from 29 July to 4 August. The study trip is a practical complement to the theoretical examination of the Shoah and an integral part of the Memorial Service preparation. In preparation for the study trip, participants will take part in a four-day seminar in Linz (May 2024), three excursions to the site of the former Gusen concentration camp, Jewish life in Vienna and the Obersalzberg perpetrator site, as well as four preparatory webinars. The aim is to provide basic information and work out how the Holocaust can be taught.

Die vom Verein Österreichischer Auslandsdient organisierte Polen-Shoah-Studienreise findet jährlich statt und ist ein Kernprojekt der Vorbereitung der Gedenkdienst-Kandidat:innen des Vereins. Die Studienreise wird 2024 in Kooperation mit B'nai B'rith, Bnei Akiva Deutschland sowie der Auschwitz Jewish Center Foundation umgesetzt und findet von 29. Juli bis 4. August statt. Die Studienreise ist ein praktisches Komplement zur theoretischen Auseinandersetzung mit der Shoah und integraler Bestandteil der Gedenkdienst-Vorbereitung. In Vorbereitung auf die Studienreise nehmen die Teilnehmer:innen an einem viertägigen Seminar in Linz (Mai 2024), an drei Exkursionen zum Gelände des ehemaligen Konzentrationslagers Gusen, zum jüdischen Leben in Wien und dem Täterort Obersalzberg sowie an vier vorbereitenden Webinaren teil. Im Rahmen dessen sollen grundlegende Informationen vermittelt und erarbeitet werden, wie der Holocaust gelehrt werden kann.
