Description
On the occasion of Yom Hashoah Remembrance Day on 22 May 2024, the Jewish Community Vienna is staging a very special memorial theatre project at the Nestroyhof Hamakom Theatre: “Whistle. My mother was Mengele's secretary”, which is also the Austrian premiere of the play. The performance, which will be held in English with the texts projected in German, is based on an autobiography by Jacob Buchan (co-author and theatre adaptation: Hadar Galron, director: Hana Vazana Greenwald). “Whistle” is a monodrama that gives a voice to the pain of second-generation Holocaust survivors and reveals the invisible but deep wounds of the survivors. The Whistle project has already toured the world six times and performed in the following countries: Great Britain, USA, Canada, Italy, Hungary, Albania, Croatia, North Macedonia and the Czech Republic.

Die Israelitische Kultusgemeinde Wien veranstaltet anlässlich des Jom Hashoah Gedenktages am 22. Mai 2024 im Theater Nestroyhof Hamakom ein ganz besonderes Gedenktheaterprojekt: "Whistle. Meine Mutter war Mengele’s Sekretärin", welches zugleich auch die Österreich Premiere des Stückes ist. Die Aufführung, die in englischer Sprache mit Projektion der Texte auf Deutsch abgehalten wird, basiert auf einer Autobiografie von Jacob Buchan (Co-Autorin und Theateradaption: Hadar Galron, Regie: Hana Vazana Greenwald). "Whistle" ist ein Monodrama, das dem Schmerz von Holocaust-Überlebenden der zweiten Generation eine Stimme gibt und die unsichtbaren, aber tiefen Wunden der Überlebenden aufdeckt. Das Projekt Whistle ist bereits sechsmal um die Welt getourt und in folgenden Ländern aufgetreten: Großbritannien, USA, Kanada, Italien, Ungarn, Albanien, Kroatien, Nord-Mazedonien sowie in der Tschechischen Republik.
