Cantoral remembrance concert

As part of the annual remembrance concert, the opportunity is taken to remember the destroyed Jewish culture through music and to impressively demonstrate that the heirs of this tradition are in Vienna. This year a well-known cantor from Belgium, who has composed a piece about the Shoah, and a young cantor from Israel will be invited to participate in the remembrance concert on 9 November. This concert is an opportunity for Jews and non-Jews alike to get to know the timeless melodies of the prayers and old Yiddish songs from the Stetl authentically. Chief Cantor Shmuel Barzilai is already a confirmed performer. Chief Rabbi Paul Chaim Eisenberg will host the concert.

Im Rahmen des alljährlichen Gedenkkonzertes wird die Möglichkeit wahrgenommen, durch Musik an die zerstörte jüdische Kultur zu erinnern und eindrucksvoll zu zeigen, dass die Erben dieser Tradition in Wien sind. Heuer sollen ein bekannter Kantor aus Belgien, der ein Musikstück über die Shoah geschrieben hat, und ein junger Kantor aus Israel um den 9. November zum Kantorenkonzert in den Wiener Stadttempel eingeladen werden. Es gibt sowohl Juden als auch Nichtjuden die Möglichkeit, die zeitlosen Melodien der Gebete und auch die alten jiddischen Lieder aus dem Stetl authentisch kennenzulernen. Zu den fixen Interpreten des Konzertes gehört Oberkantor Shmuel Barzilai. Oberrabbiner Paul Chaim Eisenberg moderiert das Konzert.
