Ruth Weiss was born in 1928 in Berlin into a Jewish Austrian family with Roma roots. In 1933, her parents returned with her to Vienna, where Ruth spent the formative years of her childhood in an increasingly radical climate of emerging National Socialism. In fall 2006, Ruth Weiss was officially honored in Vienna. She received the medal of honor from the City of Vienna. To mark this occasion, “verein.exil” invited Ruth Weiss and her partner, the painter Paul Blake, to Vienna and honored them and presented them to the public with a series of events.

a. "Jüdische Lebenswelten: gestern, heute, morgen" Shani Bar On wurde in Israel geboren und studierte „Media and Communications“ am Sapir College der Ben Gurion Universität. Emil Rennert wurde 1986 in Wien geboren. Anhand ihrer persönlichen Familiengeschichten bereiten Emil Rennert und Shani Bar On den Holocaust greifbar für die SchülerInnen auf. Sie erzählen die Geschichten ihrer Großeltern und wie diese den Holocaust überlebten. Thema für die Diskussionsrunde ist, wie sich diese Geschichte auf nachfolgende Generationen auswirkt und wie Rassismus funktioniert und sich heute äußert. B. "her number was not called" - Das Projekt umfasst 2 Bücher in der Edition Exil und drei Abendveranstaltungen in Wien, weiters fünf ZeitzeugInnen Kreativ Workshops für je 1 Schulklasse im Amerlinghaus B. “her number was not called” - Ruth Weiss in Wien September 2012 Ruth Weiss, die bekannte Dichterin und „goddess of the beatgeneration“, geboren 1928 in Berlin als Kind jüdischer Eltern aus Wien, die die entscheidenden Jahre ihrer Kindheit bis 1938 in Wien verbrachte und dann mit ihrer Familie in die USA emigrierte, wird im Herbst 2012 auf Einladung der edition exil drei Wochen in Wien sein und hier in drei großen Abendveranstaltungen im Volkstheater (Rote Bar) im Literaturhaus und im Amerlinghaus ihre „poetry“ mit Jazz performen. Zusätzlich wird sie fünf Holocaust-Education-Workshops im Amerlinghaus leiten.
